Milborne St Andrew is situated on the beautiful Dorset Downs midway between Blandford Forum and Dorchester.

We will be camping at the village Sports Club, which is a level, well kept grass site site. The sports pavilion on site provides showers, toilets, and the venue for our evening entertainment.

There are spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and lovely walks to be had. Local attractions include include Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World, Farmer Palmers Farm Park, Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens, Cloud Hills (National Trust) and Lulworth Cove, all within 10 miles of the site (see below).

The site opens at 2pm on Thursday and closes on Tuesday. The stewards for this meet can be contacted by email at info@wessexfdsg.org before the meet, or by the Wessex mobile phone on 07340 248 577 during the meet.


What’s on

We will have use all weekend of the pavilion on site for informal social get-togethers.

Saturday evening

Our ceilidh will be held on Saturday evening, starting at 19:30 in the pavilion on site. This is an informal evening of song, poetry and music. You can bring your own refreshments, although tea and coffee is provided in the interval.

65-acre park in the heart of the Dorset countryside, home to over 260 rescued monkeys & apes of 24 different species.

Clouds Hill

T.E. Lawrence’s (Lawrence of Arabia) retreat containing his own furnishings and photographs (National Trust).

Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park

Fun park with indoor/outdoor play areas, farm animals, woodland trails & a seasonal maize maze.

Lulworth Cove

Lulworth Cove is world famous for its unique geology and landforms including the Lulworth Crumple and Stair Hole.

    • From Blandford Forum, take A354 west for 8 miles.
    • Entering Milborne St Andrew turn left signed ‘Bere Regis’ onto Lane End
    • The site is 130 metres on the left.
  • From the West
    • From Dorchester take A35 east
    • After about 5 miles take the slip road to the A354
    • Follow the A354 for about 3½ miles
    • Drive through the village of Milborne St Andrew
    • After you leave the village turn right signed ‘Bere Regis’ onto Lane End
    • The site is 130 metres on the left.

Local information

Shops

There is a small Londis convenience store in the village ½ mile from the site.

For main shops, Blandford Forum and Dorchester are both about 9 miles away.

Eating Out

The Royal Oak pub in the village serves excellent food and beer, and is only an easy 15 minute stroll away. It can be busy so it’s advisable to book.

The local ‘Ooh, Nice Baps!’ food van is a short distance from the site and does excellent bacon rolls.

There are several other pubs in the area offering food, including the Oak at Dewlish.

Transport

Damory Coaches Route X12 provides a service between Blandford Forum and Weymouth calling at Milborne St Andrews (not Sundays or Bank Holidays)
