December 2013

Here we are again, a new year, another year for meeting up with friends old and new, and hopefully some good weather for all.

The end of last year saw us at Liss for our Harvest Supper. Ploughmans platters again, but most plates were cleared and then some harvest cakes to follow – mostly containing apple and cider. We had a really good ceilidh with Mark’s band entertaining us plus all the other people who put themselves in the limelight for different sorts of entertainment, singing, poetry, music and similar.

Then it was the Halloween meet at Wallop. There was a good turn-out of costumed people attending, some who may have taken a while to be recognised under their facial cover-ups, but I think everyone succeeded in the recognition skills! I’m sure there will be some photos on the website for viewing. The ghostly spread was really good with many bits having a Halloween theme to them. I certainly enjoyed the spread. The ceilidh following this was good fun with dancing, entertainment and laughter.

This weekend sees our last meet of the year – the Christmas Party get together at Ibsley. Only a one night meet this year due to other bookings at the site, but I’m sure there will be those that stay over and those that visit for the afternoon/evening.

I’m sure all our members and friends would like to thank all those people who have helped with their contributions to our weekends, whether it’s looking after the equipment, entertainment, coffee/tea serving, being an MC and all the other things that make our weekends special and enjoyable. I’ve probably left something really important out so apologies but there are so many things that help make every meet. Before I do forget, big thanks to those who steward, without them there are no meets! For those who haven’t tried stewarding but think they might give it a go there is always someone to help you start. Alternatively you could shadow stewards just to see what it entails – it’s a worthwhile job.

Anyway, by the time you read this we will have gone through Christmas and probably New Year. Hope everything went OK and we’ll see you on the field.
