June 2018

First of all, a big thank you to all of our team involved with the Easter Meet at Uttoxeter – what a great meet, despite the weather!

Our AGM weekend at Weyhill brought us more extremes of weather, from the hot and sunny daytimes to the thunder and lightening storms of Saturday night. Quite something to experience in a tent, but we all survived unscathed!

The maypole was up for our May Day meet at Wildhern, where we enjoyed the now-traditional walk to the charity shop at Enham on Sunday morning. On Sunday afternoon, the penny fair brought out bitter rivalries over the marbles and shove-halfpenny!

The Spring bank holiday meet at Kilima Farm was an opportunity to visit the fantastic Chippenham Folk Festival nearby, as well as Lacock village and Bowood House – or just relax and enjoy the lovely site.

We look forward to our next meet at Awbridge, a lovely site with a nature reserve to explore right next door, and lots of entertainment in nearby Romsey with the Beggars Fair that weekend. Then follows Medstead at the end of July, and on to Fort Widley in August, which must be one of the most impressive places I’ve ever camped, right on the parade ground overlooking Portsmouth.

I look forward to seeing some of you at our meets over the summer and hope you all enjoy good weather and good camping, wherever you are.
